About the Role

Our client, a prominent manufacturing firm situated in the renowned wine region of Stellenbosch, Western Cape, is seeking a diligent Procurement Officer to manage the acquisition of direct materials crucial for production. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end procurement process for direct materials, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. Identify and vet potential suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements. Monitor supplier performance and proactively address any issues related to quality, delivery, or cost. Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to forecast material needs and ensure adequate supply. Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier information. Assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies to drive cost savings and improve supply chain efficiency. Ensure compliance with all company procurement policies, ethical guidelines, and relevant regulations. Support inventory management initiatives by providing accurate lead time information and ensuring timely replenishment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a procurement or buyer role, preferably with exposure to direct materials in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong understanding of procurement principles, negotiation techniques, and supplier relationship management.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems, coupled with excellent skills in MS Excel.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience working within the Stellenbosch or broader Western Cape industrial community is a distinct advantage.
