Our client in the manufacturing industry, based in Isando, Johannesburg, is seeking an experienced Procurement Officer to join their dynamic team.

This role is responsible for efficiently sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services required by the company, ensuring they meet quality standards and are acquired at the most competitive prices.

Requirements
  • Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Purchasing Management
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a procurement or buying role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Proven negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier evaluation, and contract management
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational, and time management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Key Responsibilities
  • Negotiate the purchase of materials that meet specifications, ensuring timely delivery at the best possible prices
  • Source and engage qualified suppliers, completing all NDAs and supplier evaluation processes
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for new projects to minimise risk and reduce costs
  • Continuously monitor outstanding purchase orders and ensure timely deliveries as per call‑off orders
  • Update and modify purchase orders based on changing requirements
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date approved supplier list and negotiate pricing agreements
  • Monitor supplier and product performance to ensure ongoing quality and reliability
  • Prepare and present monthly cost update meetings, including supplier price increases, cost savings, and procurement performance
  • Address RFCs with suppliers, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Report any significant supply issues that may impact production or operations
  • Obtain credit notes for PPVs in line with negotiated pricing and terms
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships built on trust and professionalism
  • Assist with monthly stock‑take processes and variance resolution
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management
