Remuneration
  • R1.2m CTC PA - Negotiable (This will be based on the candidates experience and background and qualifications).
Education
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, or a related field is often required.
Experience
  • Significant experience (e.g., 6+ years) in procurement or supply chain management, with direct mining industry experience being essential.
KEY TO THIS ROLE IS THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE
  1. Parts and service supply contract negotiation and management
  2. Supply chain optimisation
  3. Inventory SKU mix and holding optimisation
  4. Material Pricing Index development implementation and execution
  5. Working capital planning and forecasting for group supply chain.
  6. Continuous cash balancing to optimise immediate stock replenishment with long term balance.
  7. Strategic analysis and planning on long lead maintenance capital items
  8. Rotable component supply chain design and group wide setup.
WHAT YOU WILL DO IN A NUTSHELL

A procurement manager in the mining industry manages sourcing, procurement, and supplier relationships to ensure the company acquires necessary equipment, materials, and services at the best price, quality, and terms, while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Key responsibilities include developing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, overseeing the supply chain and inventory, managing vendor performance, and ensuring adherence to company policies and ethical standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
  • Develop and implement innovative, cost-effective procurement strategies; identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers; and build and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Negotiation & Contract Management
  • Negotiate favorable commercial and contractual terms with suppliers for price, quality, and delivery, and review existing contracts for ongoing feasibility.
Process & Compliance
  • Direct and manage the end-to-end purchasing process, ensuring compliance with procurement regulations, ethical standards, and safety and health regulations specific to the mining sector.
Stakeholder & Budget Management
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine procurement needs, manage departmental budgets, and monitor performance against targets.
Logistics & Inventory Oversight
  • Oversee inbound/outbound logistics requirements and direct inventory management, including stores replenishment and storage of equipment and spares.
Risk Management
  • Perform risk assessments on contracts and agreements and implement control measures to mitigate risks associated with procurement.
Reporting & Improvement
  • Monitor and report on departmental performance, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and ensure the implementation of corrective actions from audit findings.
Technical Skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with office software like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and experience with enterprise-level software packages such as JDE.

Industry Knowledge
