Chryso South Africa is recruiting a Procurement Manager who will be responsible for driving strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives that deliver cost savings, operational efficiency, and supplier excellence. The role leads contract negotiations, supplier relationships, and procurement projects while ensuring compliance, managing risk, and supporting business objectives through effective stakeholder engagement and data-driven decision-making.
This role will be based in Jet Park, Johannesburg.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and value creation.
- Conduct market analysis to understand industry trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing movements.
- Support business planning through effective sourcing strategies.
Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, select, and onboard suppliers.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Monitor supplier performance using agreed KPIs and service level agreements.
- Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews.
Sourcing & Contract Management
- Lead competitive sourcing activities, including RFQs, RFPs, and tenders.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and contracts.
- Ensure contracts are legally compliant and effectively managed.
- Mitigate supply risks through contingency planning and supplier diversification.
Cost Management
- Drive savings initiatives and monitor procurement budgets.
- Analyze spending patterns and identify improvement opportunities.
- Deliver year-on-year cost optimization while maintaining quality and service levels.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement requirements.
- Provide procurement guidance and support to business leaders.
- Ensure alignment between procurement activities and operational needs.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain procurement records and audit readiness.
- Promote responsible sourcing and sustainability practices.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop procurement team members.
- Set performance objectives and monitor achievement.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Professional procurement qualification (CIPS, ISM, CPSM, or equivalent).
- 5 years’ experience in Procurement or Supply Chain, (manufacturing, construction, mining, FMCG, or infrastructure).
- At least 3 years of experience as a Procurement Manager.
- Experience in strategic sourcing and contract negotiation.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and complex procurement projects.
