An established manufacturing organisation is seeking two experienced Process Technicians with strong Flexographic (Flexo) printing expertise. These roles focus on process development, standardisation, capability building, and technical optimisation — not routine machine operation.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidates will play a critical role in ensuring consistent quality, stable processes, waste reduction, and operational excellence within a high‑volume serviette manufacturing environment.
Machine Centrelines — Develop, document, and maintain operating centrelines for Flexo printing and converting processes
Process Optimisation — Optimise parameters for print quality, colour registration, ink performance, and efficiency
Continuous Improvement — Monitor process capability and identify improvement and waste‑reduction opportunities
Technical Support — Provide technical support on inks, plates, anilox rollers, substrates, and drying systems
Print Quality — Support colour consistency, registration accuracy, and print quality across substrates
Troubleshooting — Resolve complex issues such as colour variation, ink build‑up, plate wear, web instability, and print defects
Machine Setups — Equip teams for routine setups; lead complex setups, changeovers, and troubleshooting
Root‑Cause Analysis — Conduct structured RCA for recurring quality or downtime issues
SOP Development — Develop, review, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and technical standards
Process Control — Ensure processes are standardised, controlled, and compliant with quality and safety requirements
Audit Support — Support internal/external audits through documentation and adherence to centrelines
Training & Coaching — Train operators and technicians on machine operation, process control, quality standards, and troubleshooting
Competency Assessment — Assess and verify operator competence
Cross‑Functional Collaboration — Work with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and technical teams to resolve issues
Downstream Support — Support embossing, folding, cutting, and packaging processes
Technical Input — Provide input into CI initiatives, new product introductions, and equipment upgrades
Matric (Grade 12)
Trade Qualification — Printing, Graphic Arts, Flexographic Printing, or Industrial Printing
Proven Flexographic (Flexo) printing experience
Process Technician Experience — Experience as a Process Technician, Senior Printer, or Technical Specialist
Strong understanding of:
Flexo Principles — Colour control, print process fundamentals
Anilox & Ink Systems
Substrates & Drying
Machine centrelines and process standardisation
SOP Development — Ability to develop SOPs and assess operator competence
Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability
Sound mechanical aptitude; able to work with maintenance teams
Basic computer literacy (documentation, reporting, production systems)
Ability to work in a high‑volume, shift‑based manufacturing environment
Strong communication, organisational, and coaching skills
This role is essential for maintaining smooth, stable, high‑quality production within a specialised serviette manufacturing line, ensuring consistent output and reduced waste.
