Job summary

Sasol is a global integrated chemicals and energy company seeking an operator at the Komatipoort compressor station. The role focuses on safe operation of processes and equipment, following SOPs, and maintaining plant stability.

You will assist with start-up/shutdowns, quality sampling, fault finding and incident reporting while upholding SHERQ standards and legal requirements. 12-hour shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Maths, Science and English / N3 certificate (must).
• NQF4 occupational certificate in Chemical Operations / CPO (must).
• Valid Driver’s license – Min Code 08 (must).
• 2+ years relevant experience in a similar work environment.
• PtW issuing competency; OSH Act experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate processes at Komatipoort compressor station.
• Start up and shutdown processes according to SOP.
• Operate plant and equipment under normal operating conditions as per SOPs.
• Communicate with team members to control the plant process.
• Perform sampling for quality testing and fault finding.
• Inspect equipment (valves, pumps, vessels, etc.).
• Complete safety checklists to maintain plant stability.
• Identify and correct abnormal conditions in the plant.
• Commission and decommission plant equipment and systems.
• Adhere to SHERQ standards and legal requirements.
• Load/unload of hazardous and non-hazardous products; permit to work.
• Report incidents and deviations; conduct fault investigations.
• Perform basic risk assessments; handover process conditions.
• Work 12-hour shifts; take lead during emergencies.
