About the Role

Our client, a key supplier of specialized chemicals to the mining industry, is seeking a dedicated Process Engineer to join their dynamic team in Nelspruit . This role is central to ensuring the efficient and safe production of essential mining chemicals. You will be responsible for optimizing existing processes, troubleshooting operational challenges, and contributing to the development of new chemical formulations and production methods. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of chemical reaction engineering, separation techniques, and process control, with specific experience or a strong interest in chemicals used in mineral processing. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and optimize chemical production processes to ensure consistent quality, efficiency, and yield.
• Troubleshoot process issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Participate in process improvement projects, utilizing data analysis and engineering principles.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental (SHE) regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality control teams to maintain operational excellence.
• Develop and update process documentation, including operating procedures and safety data sheets.
• Assist in the scale-up and implementation of new chemical processes or modifications.
• Conduct performance testing and evaluation of process equipment.
• Contribute to cost reduction initiatives through process optimization.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in mining chemical production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a process engineering role, preferably in chemical manufacturing or related fields.
• Experience with chemical processes relevant to the mining industry (e.g., flotation reagents, leaching agents, flocculants) is a significant advantage.
• Strong understanding of process control, instrumentation, and data analysis.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve complex operational problems.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental management systems in industrial settings.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
