Job summary

IMPALA PLATINUM LIMITED is seeking a Process Controller for the BMR - Utilities section in Springs. The role focuses on meeting production targets through precise process control, data analysis and strict adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities include monitoring purities and yield, maintaining logs, safe chemical handling, and training colleagues under CPDP guidelines. Preference given to internal applicants in line with equity policy.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science is essential.
• Completion of BL modules and at least one Utilities Process Controller module is essential.
• Analytical, planning and problem-solving skills are required.
• Good understanding of risk assessments, material handling and plant-specific processes.
• MS Office and SAP knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out process controller duties as per CPDP for Utilities.
• Ensure compliance with work procedures and meet production targets.
• Attend to and report production-related problems promptly.
• Conduct analysis, monitor purities and yield, and report as required.
• Maintain accurate log sheets and documentation; monitor operations.
• Control chemical usage and spillages; provide on-the-job training as needed.
• Promote safety, environmental, quality and security standards; maintain housekeeping.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To perform process control duties as per the section-specific procedures to enable the section/plant to meet production targets with respect to time, quality, reduced frequency of errors and wastage reduction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science essential.
• Completion of all BL modules and one Utilities Process Controller module (excl. Clerk) essential.
• Strong analytical, planning and problems solving skills.
• Good understanding of risk assessments, principles of handling material and plant specific processes.
• Computer literacy i.e. MS Office, SAP will be an added advantage.
• Must be medically fit for BMR.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Carry out all tasks associated with the Process Controller position - as per the Utilities CPDP.
• Ensure that work is carried out in compliance with work procedures.
• Meet section specific production targets and to attend to and report production related problems.
• Conduct analysis, monitor purities and yield and report where required.
• Ensure that log sheets (and other required documentation) are updated accurately, conduct analyses and monitor operations.
• Utilize the correct amount of chemicals and other supplies and control chemical spillages.
• Perform on-the-job training on the modules found competent in as per CPDP guidelines.
• Responsible for promoting and maintaining safety, environmental, quality and security standards in area of work.
• Promote and maintain good housekeeping in area of responsibility.
