Job Title: Private Wealth Manager

Type of Work: Wealth Management responsibilities for High-Net-Worth clients, including new client acquisition, client servicing and portfolio management.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

What role would this job typically report into: Regional Manager

JOB PURPOSE

In this role, you’d be required to meet with prospects and clients, conducting detailed financial analysis in order to determine opportunities for clients with regard to their personal wealth portfolios, retirement planning, insurance, education planning and estate planning. To make detailed recommendations in respect of aforesaid opportunities, taking cognisance of each client’s risk profile and financial needs. Creating and implementing an ongoing service plan to ensure client portfolios are regularly monitored and relevant modifications timeously executed.

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Engagement and Business Development:

  • Engage with potential clients to arrange initial meetings and explore their financial needs.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities through lead generation, prospecting, and professional networking.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key clients and stakeholders to enhance satisfaction and trust.
  • Present tailored financial solutions aligned with individual goals and company benchmarks.
  • Maintain and grow your client base by keeping existing plans updated and welcoming new clients regularly.
  • Recommend suitable financial strategies based on Carrick’s product and investment guide, ensuring the best-fit solutions that balance effectiveness with cost efficiency for both the client and the business.

Client Servicing:

  • Connect with clients quarterly to review their portfolio, assess satisfaction, and discuss any changes in their financial goals or circumstances.
  • Deliver outstanding support by understanding each client’s needs, responding to queries, and resolving issues promptly and effectively.
  • Identify ways to further support clients through regular conversations and proactive guidance.
  • Adapt recommendations based on clients’ evolving financial situations and personal objectives.
  • Keep clients informed about relevant product updates or legislative changes that may impact their financial plans.
  • Stay on top of financial market trends to ensure client strategies remain aligned and up to date.

Financial Planning

  • Act in the client’s best interest by offering independent, unbiased, and professional advice.
  • Analyse financial information to identify appropriate strategies, solutions, and products aligned with the client’s goals.
  • Prepare clear, client-friendly financial reports to support decision-making.
  • Help protect and grow client wealth through tailored advice on investments, retirement, estate planning, and tax strategies—both locally and offshore.
  • Assess available investment opportunities to determine suitability within each client’s financial plan.
  • Recommend a broad range of regulated investment options that meet client needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of investment, tax, and planning alternatives across jurisdictions, including costs, restrictions, and drawdown options.

Risk Management

  • Completing client risk analyses.
  • Acting within the scope of the regulatory requirements of the FSCA.

General

  • Honour all meetings and engagements.
  • Keeping up to date with financial products and legislation. i.e. attending product provider meetings.
  • Learn and develop with regards to Financial Services and continued study and development with accredited institutions.

Qualification:

  • Non-South African Nationals: A relevant Bachelor Honours Degree, Postgraduate Diploma, or equivalent qualification at RQF Level 6+. Relevant degrees include finance, economics, business, law, or similar fields.
  • Your qualification must be recognised under FAIS Board Notice 194 for Financial Advice in South Africa. If not already approved, Carrick will assist suitable candidates in meeting local regulatory requirements (e.g., RE5 exam).
