About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape , is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal Solutions Architect . This role is instrumental in defining and driving the architectural vision for the company's digital transformation initiatives, ensuring scalability, security, and innovation across all technology platforms. You will collaborate closely with business leaders, product managers, and engineering teams to design and implement cutting-edge solutions that support sustainable growth and operational excellence. This hybrid role offers a blend of remote work flexibility and crucial in-office collaboration at our Mossel Bay facility, fostering strong team synergy and strategic alignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the definition, design, and implementation of enterprise-level solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Develop and maintain the company's technology architecture roadmap, standards, and best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and architectural patterns, recommending adoption where appropriate.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to development teams and other architects.
• Ensure the architectural integrity, scalability, security, and performance of all proposed solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Conduct architectural reviews, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for major projects.
• Drive innovation by identifying opportunities for leveraging new technologies and methodologies.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including blueprints and guidelines.
• Foster a culture of architectural excellence and continuous improvement within the IT department.

Requirements

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in IT, with a minimum of 7 years in senior or principal architect roles.
• Proven track record of designing and delivering complex, large-scale enterprise solutions.
• Deep expertise in architectural patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven, SOA) and technologies.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and API design.
• Excellent understanding of cybersecurity principles and data governance.
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage with C-level executives.
• Experience in the energy or utility sector is highly desirable.
• Relevant advanced certifications (e.g., TOGAF Certified, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional) are a strong advantage.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
