About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Research Engineer to lead cutting-edge research in Nanotechnology at their state-of-the-art facility in Randburg . This senior role involves driving innovation in the design, fabrication, and characterization of nanomaterials and nanodevices for advanced applications. You will guide research projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute significantly to the company's intellectual property portfolio and its position at the forefront of Scientific Research & Development .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of novel nanotechnology research projects from concept to prototype.
• Design, fabricate, and test advanced nanomaterials and nano-devices using advanced lithography and deposition techniques.
• Characterize materials and devices using electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and other advanced analytical tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including materials scientists, physicists, and chemists, to integrate nanotechnology solutions.
• Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of research engineers and scientists.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on nanotechnology.
• 10+ years of progressive research experience in nanotechnology, including a proven track record of leading complex projects.
• Expertise in nanofabrication techniques (e.g., e-beam lithography, sputtering, CVD) and characterization methods.
• Deep understanding of the principles of solid-state physics and device physics at the nanoscale.
