Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or related quantitative field with ML focus.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive data science/ML experience, with lead/principal role.
• Proven track record in developing/deploying ML models (DL, RL, NLP, time series).
• Proficiency in Python or R and libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Experience with big data tech (Spark/Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong statistical modeling, experimental design, and data visualization skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field with a strong focus on machine learning. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in data science and machine learning, with a significant portion in a lead or principal role. Demonstrated expertise in developing and deploying machine learning models (e.g., deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, time series analysis). Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn). Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). Strong understanding of statistical modeling, experimental design, and data visualization. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional communication and presentation abilities. Proven ability to lead projects and mentor team members. Must have the legal authorization to work in South Africa.
