Placements24 is partnering with a reputable primary school in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, to recruit a dynamic Primary School Mathematics & Science Specialist. You will deliver CAPS-aligned Maths and Science lessons for Grades R-6, creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences for young learners.

The ideal candidate holds a BEd or PGCE, QTS, and at least 3 years of primary teaching with a passion for STEM.

Qualifications

• Must have teaching qualification with Primary Education specialization.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ primary teaching experience focusing on Maths and Science.

Responsibilities

About the Role Our client, a reputable primary school situated in the scenic town of Mossel Bay, Western Cape , is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Primary School Mathematics & Science Specialist .

This role is designed for an educator with a passion for fostering foundational understanding in these crucial subjects among young learners. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and innovative lessons that make mathematics and science accessible and exciting for children from Foundation Phase to Intermediate Phase. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the South African National Curriculum (CAPS) and a talent for creating hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver effective and engaging Mathematics and Science lessons for primary school learners (Grades R-6), adhering to the CAPS curriculum.
• Develop and implement hands-on activities, experiments, and projects to enhance understanding and stimulate curiosity in STEM subjects.
• Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including classwork, homework, tests, and practical observations.
• Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
• Collaborate with grade-level teachers and the wider school staff to ensure a cohesive and integrated learning experience.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and learning strategies.
• Contribute to the development and review of the school's Mathematics and Science curriculum.

Requirements

• A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., Bachelor of Education, Post Graduate Certificate in Education) with specialization in Primary Education.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent accreditation is essential.
• Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in primary school, with a demonstrated focus on Mathematics and Science.
• In-depth knowledge and practical application of the South African National Curriculum (CAPS) for primary Mathematics and Science.
• Proven ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
