Overview
This permanent post has arisen as a result of Primary Care Modernisation and directly from the actions outlined in the Mental Health Strategy (2017-2027). The role covers Wester Ross, Skye and Lochalsh and is aligned to the GP Cluster Areas there.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within the Primary Care Mental Health Service, partnering with GP, Primary Care colleagues, 3rd sector and CMHT teams.
- Provide and supervise assessment, risk management and the delivery of psychological interventions for individuals with mild to moderate mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and adjustment disorder.
- Use a strength‑based, recovery‑focused approach that involves the patient as a partner in treatment planning.
- Undertake duties without direct supervision and support and supervise the work of others.
- Promote partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals/agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies.
- Provide sessional input to GP practices within NHS Highland (North), including virtual sessions where required.
- Demonstrate high standards of patient‑centred care and interventions, demonstrating excellent clinical skills, leadership, facilitated learning and service improvement skills.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant post‑registration qualification (BA, BSc, Diploma in Mental Health Nursing) or formal degree‑level qualification in a related subject.
- Evidence of experience delivering psychological therapies.
- Registration with an appropriate professional body.
- Valid driving licence and access to own vehicle.
