Job summary

Cre8work is seeking a Precision Grinder to operate and set precision grinding machines to manufacture components to exact dimensions, reading engineering drawings and ensuring quality.

The role requires 3–5 years' experience, ability to work to tight tolerances, and a disciplined approach to safety and housekeeping on the shop floor. Join a hands-on team delivering high-precision parts.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric preferred.
• Relevant Precision Grinding / Toolmaking / Fitting and Machining qualification or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years' relevant experience as a Precision Grinder.
• Strong experience operating and setting precision grinding machinery.
• Ability to work to tight tolerances.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Good knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
• Experience with different grinding wheels and grinding techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate precision grinding machines, including surface, cylindrical and/or internal grinders.
• Grind components to accurate dimensions and specified tolerances.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications.
• Select and dress appropriate grinding wheels for different materials and applications.
• Measure components using micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, bore gauges and other precision inspection equipment.
• Check finished components against required dimensions, tolerances and surface finishes.
• Perform machine adjustments to maintain accuracy and quality.
• Identify and correct grinding defects and dimensional problems.
• Complete quality checks and record measurements where required.
• Maintain grinding machines, tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Follow all health, safety and housekeeping procedures.
• Work according to production schedules and meet required deadlines.

PRECISION GRINDER

Position

Precision Grinder

Job Purpose

To operate and set precision grinding machines to manufacture and finish components to exact dimensions and quality standards, while ensuring all work meets engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate precision grinding machines, including surface, cylindrical and/or internal grinders.

• Grind components to accurate dimensions and specified tolerances.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications.

• Select and dress appropriate grinding wheels for different materials and applications.

• Measure components using precision measuring equipment such as:

  • Micrometers

  • Vernier calipers

  • Height gauges

  • Bore gauges

  • Dial indicators

  • Other precision inspection equipment

• Check finished components against required dimensions, tolerances and surface finishes.

• Perform machine adjustments to maintain accuracy and quality.
