A leading tech firm in South Africa is seeking an analytical Pre-Sales Engineer to support the sales team with technical input into RF Network Testing solutions. Candidates must have a background in electrical engineering and technical knowledge of RF Testing, along with strong interpersonal skills. This permanent role offers a competitive salary of R35K to R45K per month plus commission, with the opportunity to earn up to R60K on target. Start date is ASAP.

Tech firm seeks analytical Pre‑Sales Engineer in Telco space. Support sales team with technical input into RF Network Testing Gear solutions.

What the person must be able to do :

This role is in the South African Telco industry. The company supplies Network Testing equipment to major Telcos. You need to have a background in electrical engineering, so that you can understand what the equipment does, and the customer problems it solves. You need to have technical knowledge of RF Testing and Design. Strong bonus if this experience includes Telco exposure.

  • Technical support to sales team on RF and Telco Network testing gear
  • Technical solution creation, configuration and architecture
  • Technical presentations and demonstrations
  • Lead generation from interactions with technical people at customers
  • Liaising with vendors on technical issues
  • Occasional customer support on technical issues
  • Customer training
  • Company will provide training on their equipment range. Must be able to teach yourself to supplement this training if needed
Knowledge on how to use the following types of equipment :
  • RF Network Analysers
  • Spectrum Analysers
  • RF Power Meters
  • Digital microwave / radio communication systems
Key Job Deliverables :
  • Technical configurations for proposed solutions

Background work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in RF technical work, such as design, testing, support or configuration
  • Comfortable in discussing and selling measurement solutions in the telecom environment from POTS to 100GigE
  • Advantageous : Good understanding of technical terms and acronyms used in telecomm and T&M markets
  • Strongly advantageous if the candidate has actually worked for a Telco
  • Electronics Engineering Diploma / Degree with subjects such as : Radio Engineering Satellite Communications RF Microwave Electronic communication
  • Advantageous : Completed Selling Skills Training
