Placements24 seeks an Automotive Powertrain Controls Engineer in East London, Eastern Cape to design, develop, and implement control systems for ICE, hybrid, and EV powertrains. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to optimize performance, efficiency, and emissions on an on-site basis.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in control theory, embedded C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and experience with HIL testing and ISO 26262.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of automotive powertrain controls experience.
• Experience with embedded C/C++ for automotive applications.
• Strong knowledge of control theory and powertrain systems.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for design and simulation.
• Familiarity with HIL testing environments.
• Understanding CAN/LIN automotive protocols.
• Experience with ISO 26262 is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop control algorithms and logic for ICE, Hybrid, EV powertrains.
• Implement control software using C/C++ for embedded microcontrollers.
• Perform simulation and modeling using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Conduct HIL testing and vehicle testing to validate performance.
• Debug and troubleshoot control system issues with effective solutions.
• Collaborate with calibration engineers to tune performance parameters.
• Ensure systems meet performance, emissions, and functional safety requirements (ISO 26262).
• Create and maintain design documentation, test plans, and reports.
• Stay updated with advancements in powertrain control technologies.
