Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Power Systems Analyst to join the East London team. The role focuses on studying, modeling, and predicting electrical grid behavior to support stable, secure power delivery in the East London region.

The ideal candidate holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization (Masters advantageous) and at least 5 years of experience in power system analysis and grid operations. Proficiency in PSS/E, ETAP, and PowerWorld is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems; Master’s degree is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in power system analysis and grid operations.
• Proficient in power system simulation software such as PSS/E, ETAP, PowerWorld.
• Strong understanding of load flow, fault analysis, stability and protection concepts.
• Experience with data analysis related to grid performance and reliability.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform power flow, short circuit, and transient stability studies using PSS/E, ETAP, or PowerWorld to assess grid performance.
• Develop and maintain accurate power system models with new generation, transmission and load data.
• Analyze grid performance during planned and unplanned outages and recommend operational adjustments.
• Assess impact of renewable energy sources and distributed generation on grid stability and operability.
• Prepare detailed technical reports documenting study results, findings and recommendations.
• Collaborate with grid operators, planning engineers and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and safe operation.
