Job summary

The Department of Public Law at the University of the Free State invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in legal theory, environmental law, or public international law. The position is based at Bloemfontein Campus and targets an emerging scholar.

The fellowship is initially one year and renewable for up to three years, with supervision by Dr Nico Buitendag and integration into the department's active research program.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Law or a closely related discipline.
• Strong academic record with potential to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
• Willingness to relocate and reside 80% of the period at UFS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct innovative and theoretically rigorous research in an agreed field.
• Develop and implement an annual research and publication plan with the mentor.
• Publish a minimum of two peer-reviewed, DHET-accredited outputs per year.
• Collaborate on co-authored publications where appropriate.
• Present research at national or international conferences and seminars.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and university research activities.
• Assist with supervision or mentoring of postgraduate students.
• Contribute to grant applications and conference proposals.
