Qualifications

  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
  • Previous hospital experience will be advantageous.
  • Previous experience with blister packaging would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience with Propharm and Clinic Manager will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Interpreting and preparing prescriptions.
  • Repackaging and distributing medication.
  • Ordering medicine and scheduled substances as per Responsible Pharmacist instructions.
  • Preparing, labeling, and dispensing medication in compliance with pharmacist-reviewed prescription.
  • Managing and monitoring ward stock and emergency trolley supplies.
  • Conducting weekly and monthly stock takes, reconciling actual vs. system stock.
  • Processing medication and consumables billing for sub-acute patients via Clinic Manager.
  • Submitting medical aid claims when required through Prophar.

Faircape Health Tokai Estate is a Sub Acute Care and Rehabilitation Centre which provides restorative care and rehabilitation for patients recovering from a variety of medical conditions. We are catering to patients in need of short-term, long-term, dementia, respite, and palliative care within a secure and nurturing environment.

Our world-class care aims to bridge the gap between hospital and home. Our Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) of leading healthcare professionals administers care in the most therapeutic environment possible and supports healing outcomes in all aspects.

We are seeking a Locum Post Basic Pharmacist to join our team, working at Tokai Estate in the Southern Suburbs. The Post Basic Pharmacist is responsible for medication control and managing patients' prescriptions for Faircape’s Healthcare facilities, under the supervision of the Responsible Pharmacist.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Interpreting and preparing prescriptions
  • Repackaging and distributing medication
  • Ordering medicine and scheduled substances as per Responsible Pharmacist instructions
  • Preparing, labeling, and dispensing medication in compliance with pharmacist-reviewed prescription
  • Alongside the stock controller and admin manager, managing and monitoring ward stock and emergency trolley supplies
  • Replenishing stock in emergency trolleys and cupboards as needed
  • Conducting weekly and monthly stock takes, reconciling actual vs. system stock, and reporting discrepancies to the Responsible Pharmacists
  • Processing medication and consumables billing for sub-acute patients via Clinic Manager
  • When required, submit medical aid claims through Prophar
