Overview Portfolio Manager – Engineering

In this role, you will be responsible for managing, developing, and growing a designated panel of brokers, retaining existing business, generating new opportunities, and achieving sales and profitability targets.

Skills Minimum 5 years' experience in the short-term insurance industry, with strong sales exposure and a solid broker network.

Proven technical competence in Engineering Products and underwriting principles.

FAIS compliant.

Valid driver's license.

Job Description
  • Develop a business plan that reflects market opportunities within your portfolio.
  • Produce and implement a sales plan to identify, develop, and manage prospects.
  • Underwrite and accept risks within delegated authority to ensure effective execution.
  • Grow and retain business to achieve GWP (Gross Written Premium) and profitability targets.
  • Monitor and track productivity levels.
  • Work closely with brokers to understand their needs and deliver superior client service.
  • Analyse brokers' business plans to identify and develop future opportunities.
  • Develop and strengthen broker relationships to meet business growth targets.
  • Ensure compliance with underwriting standards, procedures, and controls.
  • Implement agreed underwriting measures to maintain targeted loss ratios and rates.
  • Adhere to risk acceptance criteria, reinsurance capacity, risk classifications, decline risks, and approved pricing tools.
