Job description

Poeima Head Counselor- Highschool discipleship

A Head Counselor is someone who is influential, encouraging, and whose leadership is rooted in mentorship. While they will be living in the cabin with other campers and counselors, their focus is to assist the Poiema Coordinator in leading all Poiema counselors and camper activities. In reference to Poiema Counselors, they will help supervise them, be a channel of communication between them and the coordinator, provide guidance, and will be the first step in disciplinary action scenarios. In reference to Poiema Campers, they will help supervise certain activities, provide general direction and guidance, and be the second “official” step in disciplinary action scenarios. During the off-season, they will also work along with the Poiema Coordinator as directed in Summer Camp preparations such as: Poiema counselor mentorship, recruiting, general programming prep, etc. Head Counselors will report to the Poiema Coordinator concerning logistics, programming, disciplinary interactions, and discipleship. In the case of the Poiema Coordinator’s absence, they will be subject to Operations or Executive Director.
