Department of Health invites applications for PNA 2-3 Theatre Experienced Professional Nurse with Midwifery. The post requires SANC registration as a Professional Nurse and Midwife and relevant operating theatre experience.

Applicants must have 2+ years in Operating Theatre scrub duties, a basic 80-hour OT training is advantageous, and willingness to work weekends, nights and shifts. Closing date 30-10-2026.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / matric. Basic R425 qualification i.e. Diploma/Degree in Nursing as a Professional Nurse and Midwife or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
• Grade1: No experience required. Grade 2: A minimum of ten (10) years’ appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General. Grade 3: A minimum of twenty (20) years’ appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• Current (2026) SANC receipt. A minimum of 2 years and above appropriate / recognisable experience as a scrub sister in the Operating Theatre Department. Training in Operating Theatre 80 hour programme will be an added advantage.

Requirements

Demonstrate knowledge of processes. procedures, Nursing statutes, Ideal Hospital assessment Framework and other relevant Legal Frameworks such as Nursing Act, OHS Act, Patient Rights Charter, Batho-Pele Principles, Public Service Regulations and Labour Relations Act.SKILLS: Leadership, Organizational, decision making and problem-solving abilities within the limit of the public sector and institutional policy framework. Financial and budgetary knowledge pertaining to the relevant resource under management. Insight into the procedures and policies pertaining to nursing care. Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders and givers. Good communication skills (verbal and written). Report writing skills. Interpersonal skills including conflict management and counseling.
