Job summary

A maritime staffing agency in Cape Town seeks a Plumber responsible for maintaining sewage plants, installing plumbing systems, and ensuring health and safety compliance on board. The ideal candidate must have plumbing experience and the ability to report effectively to the Head of Department. This role will require effective solving of plumbing-related challenges to ensure a safe environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in installing and repairing plumbing systems.

  • Check and maintain sewage plants and substances.
  • Install and repair vacuum toilet systems and faucets.
  • Fix steam and water pipes in coffee and grinder machines.
  • Maintain galley machinery and pool equipment.
Job description

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • The Plumber is in charge with checking all sewage plants (toilet, vacuum system, treatment plant and relevant tanks). Evaluating possible solutions to solve further problems immediately and checking and keeping under control consumable material and reporting to Hotel Engineer if necessary about missing items.
  • Cleaning laundry discharge grey water filters periodically and reporting to Hotel Technician about the status of them and cleaning pax cabins discharge grey water filters periodically and reporting to Hotel Technician about their status.
  • Being able to install a vacuum toilet system understanding risk of a bad installation and being able to install any kind of faucet in cold and hot water, in pax cabin basin, showers, spa rooms, galley, laundry.
  • Checking and being to repair steam pipes, water pipes in the coffee and grinder machines.
  • Checking and being able to fix all galley machinery which working with steam or water. Dishwasher, potwasher, glasswasher and auxiliary apparatus of them, as steam heater, steam valves, steam pipes.
  • Supports an effective and sustainable health and safety culture and environment on board, follows strictly HESS regulations and any Health and Safety Protocols in force to prevent the spread of diseases on board and reports to the Head of Department any observed violations of the Company's health procedures.
  • The Plumber is in charge for the pool equipment, where a Water and Pool Operator is not on board.
