Job summary

West Coast Personnel is seeking a skilled Millwright for our client in the Wes-Kaap region. The role focuses on mechanical and electrical breakdowns, diagnostic fault-finding and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.

You will maintain production equipment including moulding, assembly, printing, conveying and ancillary machinery, and assist with installation, relocation and commissioning as required. Overtime, weekend and night shifts may be required to support breakdowns.

Qualifications

• Recognised Millwright Trade Test Certificate is essential.
• Minimum 3 years post-trade Millwright experience in production.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with three-phase motors and industrial electrical systems.
• Able to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Willing to work overtime and provide breakdown support when required.

Responsibilities

• Attend to mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
• Diagnose recurring machine faults and identify root causes.
• Maintain production equipment including moulding, assembly, printing, conveying and ancillary machinery.
• Maintain motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains and shafts.
• Fault-find electrical panels, sensors, contactors, relays and motor circuits.
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
• Conduct planned servicing and equipment inspections.
• Maintain accurate machine and equipment registers.
• Record breakdowns, repairs, downtime and parts used.
• Identify critical spare parts and recommend stock levels.
• Liaise with machine suppliers and specialist contractors.
• Assist with machinery installation, relocation and commissioning.
• Maintain high housekeeping and contamination-control standards.
