The Plant Quality / Systems Engineer is responsible for implementing process control programs that will assure production of finished goods that meet or exceed customer‑specified requirements.
He / she leads continuous improvements by utilizing the appropriate quality tools and provides data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Quality Management System and lead plant action plans as a result of audits.
- Conduct multiple projects simultaneously from feasibility to post‑launch quality assessment across production life.
- Facilitate Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) with engineering and monitor status throughout production.
- Review the Control Plan with Engineering and Production and monitor compliance.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Statistical Process Control techniques.
- Assure compliance with documented quality systems (IATF / VDA6.3) and promote consistency throughout the organization.
- Conduct investigations to determine causes of defects, make recommendations for corrective action.
- Maintain internal customer complaint log and participate in the QRCI process.
- Instruct and train personnel in audit and testing techniques.
- Monitor and revise quality documentation as required.
- Visit customers and suppliers when necessary.
- Perform 8QB and CIO audits and monitor corrective action implementation.
- Contain parts within the plant in the event of customer rejection and dock audit rejections.
- Manage Gauge R&R schedule and perform studies as per schedule.
- Perform final inspection validation per schedule.
- Draw up and revise inspection instructions for TQW and Final Inspection.
- Maintain FES principles.
- Perform all responsibilities with IATF / VDA6.3 system requirements.
- Initiate and implement corrective actions for customer and internal audits.
- Responsible for maintenance and upload of information on the Internal Quality Management System.
- Act as liaison to internal customers.
- Review all production methods for compliance to quality standards and for improvement of product and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong analytical and proven team‑oriented problem‑solving skills.
- 3 or more years of relevant experience in manufacturing.
- Strong customer satisfaction orientation.
- In‑depth knowledge of quality engineering techniques.
- In‑depth knowledge of quality systems (IATF / VDA6.3).
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of customer‑specific requirements.
- Knowledge of Metrology.
- Above average communication and interpersonal skills.
