Job summary

A leading manufacturing and recycling company in Midrand is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to oversee operations at their dual-site recycling facilities. This hands-on role requires a strong background in production logistics, people management, and health & safety compliance. Ideal candidates should have over 5 years in plant management and a Management-related Degree or Diploma, ready to lead in a high-output environment.

Qualifications

  • Matric and a Management-related Degree or Diploma.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar operations or plant management role.
  • Sound understanding of EE, OSH, BCEA, SHEQ and logistics/production workflows.
  • Valid Code 8 Driver's Licence.
  • Strong interpersonal, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to lead and coordinate large operational teams across two locations.
  • Ready to take the lead at one of SA’s top manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily plant operations including staffing, production logistics, and maintenance.
  • Plan and monitor collection schedules, vehicle routing, and stock levels across both sites.
  • Manage health & safety compliance, statutory checks, and environmental audits.
  • Ensure productivity targets, sorting quality, and housekeeping standards are consistently met.
  • Coordinate internal communications, staff performance, IR matters, and training needs.
  • Ensure cost-effective operation of the plant, asset management, and infrastructure upkeep.

Job description

A top manufacturing and recycling company is seeking an experienced and driven Plant Manager to oversee operations at their dual-site recycling facilities in Midrand.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader with a strong background in production logistics and people management as well as sound working knowledge of SHEQ and labour legislation in a high‑output environment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily plant operations including staffing, production logistics and maintenance.
  • Plan and monitor collection schedules, vehicle routing and stock levels across both sites.
  • Manage health & safety compliance, statutory checks and environmental audits.
  • Ensure productivity targets, sorting quality and housekeeping standards are consistently met.
