Plant Manager – Construction and Mining
Area: Gauteng · Status: full-time · Starting date: Immediate
Responsibilities
- Oversee plant and machinery operations to meet safety, efficiency, and cost targets.
- Manage maintenance, production, budgets, and staff; ensure equipment meets standards and production targets.
- Maintain a competent workforce through training and development; implement performance reviews and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
- Analyse performance data to identify areas for continuous improvement; implement corrective actions.
- Monitor daily plant operations, workshops, and production processes to meet quality standards and output volumes.
- Maintain equipment to OEM standards; supervise servicing and routine maintenance.
- Develop and manage maintenance and operational budgets; implement cost-saving strategies to maximize efficiency.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management on production activities and safety incidents.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in plant management within construction or mining sectors; proven leadership of large teams.
- Strong knowledge of heavy plant and equipment maintenance; ability to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with OEM standards.
- Experience implementing safety and environmental controls and MHSA compliance.
- Budgeting, cost control, and financial acumen; ability to develop and manage budgets.
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate staff; strong coaching, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Data-driven mindset with ability to analyse production data and drive continuous improvement.
- Educational background: relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Management or related field (as applicable).
