Duties & Responsibilities

Plant Engineer Responsibilities: Application of Technical expertise, Optimise and maintain technical processes through development of monitoring tools and systems; and the development of intervention measures to improve performance i.e. machine and plant availability, reduction of downtime, etc.

  • Project management of the technical aspects of the factory and related capital investment / expenditure projects, feasibility and return, aligned with sustaining plant production profitability.
  • Leadership and people management – Lead and manage the maintenance department w.r.t the management of technical outputs as well as safety and security to achieve and sustain operational excellence which delivers on the annual production targets and profitability of the Aba plant.
  • Responsible for living and leading the company values, through creating a transformational environment that instils pride and commitment of the entire Aba team, including all aspects of people management, staff empowerment, motivation and morale and cohesive employee relations.
  • To engage, lead and develop the respective teams in achieving departmental targets.
  • Safety Compliance – Ensure that health, safety including food safety, quality as well as environmental standards are consistently maintained in line with policy and legislative requirements; management and coordination of security protocol in ensuring safety and security of the employees, and giving due consideration to the environment.
  • Fiscal management / Budget control – Managing overall maintenance cost at an optimal level, effective Capital Expense (CapEx) Management i.e. CAR and AV management; prepare annual factory budget, monitor and ensure effective cost management.
  • The development of initiatives to achieve plant Lowering Cost of Business target.
Required Qualification
  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Government Certificate of Competency – Factories qualification would be an added advantage
  • SAP Knowledge of inventory controls and spares management
  • SAP knowledge and experience of manufacturing and technical management
  • Knowledge of AGP-A's manufacturing-technical-business environment and processes will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant engineering management experience acquired within manufacturing environment
