Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field.
• Experience in plant tissue culture and genetic transformation techniques.
• Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, DNA sequencing, genotyping).
• Experience with bioinformatics tools and analysis of plant genetic data.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex biological problems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experimental research in plant biotechnology, including tissue culture, transformation, and marker analysis.
• Design and execute experiments to investigate gene function, trait development, and environmental responses.
• Analyze genomic, transcriptomic, and phenotypic data using bioinformatics tools and statistics.
• Contribute to development of new research methodologies and protocols for crop improvement.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, agronomists, and technicians.
• Prepare findings for publication and present at scientific meetings in Stellenbosch.
