Job summary

Mediclinic Muelmed in Pretoria is seeking a Nurse/Phlebotomist to draw blood and collect specimens. The role requires current nursing registration or phlebotomy certification, with 1–2 years’ post-qualification experience. You will work on-site in the EC Unit, perform counselling, and maintain accurate records.

The ideal candidate follows regulatory standards, applies infection control, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• Registered/Enrolled Nurse or Certificate in Phlebotomy Techniques.
• 1-2 years’ experience after nursing/phlebotomy qualification.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control and health-and-safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex blood and specimen collection per standards.
• Provide pre- and post-test counselling to patients and families.
• Identify, prevent and report risks to ensure patient safety.
• Record and process patient and clinical information accurately.
• Ensure stock is recorded and charged correctly.
• Collaborate within the EC Unit multidisciplinary team.
