Job summary

Performability Recruitment (Pty) Ltd is seeking a seasoned Raw Material Buyer for a premier cosmetics manufacturer in Cape Town. The role focuses on sourcing, negotiating, and managing raw materials, packaging, and related supplies to meet stringent quality and regulatory requirements.

You will run supplier performance analyses, manage SYSPRO workflows, and ensure timely deliveries while optimizing inventory and costs in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of raw materials procurement experience in manufacturing.
• Familiar with import/export procedures and COSMETICS regulations.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Source and place orders for raw materials, equipment, and packaging to meet quality standards.
• Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers for cost and timely delivery.
• Maintain supplier relationships and monitor performance with QC and receiving.
• Handle SYSPRO transactions: requisitions, POs, and MRPs.
• Ensure on-time deliveries and optimize dock-to-stock levels.
• Monitor raw material inventory to minimize stockouts and rotate stock.
• Conduct cost analysis and identify procurement savings opportunities.
• Prepare monthly procurement reports and monitor market trends.

Aninternationally acclaimed cosmetic manufacturing company is looking for aexpert Raw Material Buyer to step into this critical role on their team and run with the following responsibilities:

• Sources and places order for products raw materials, equipment, incidentals, consumables, packaging in compliance with quality, safety regulatory standards.
• Negotiate favourable terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost-effective pricing and timely delivery.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Performs supplier monitoring by analysing feedback from relevant departments e.g. Quality Control and goods receiving.
• Performs SYSPRO transactions e.g. requisitions, purchase orders, MRP.
• Communicates effectively with internal and external customers.
• Proactively responds to internal customers requirements in support of departmental objectives.
• Ensures on time deliveries within the minimum dock to stock.
• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials to optimize stock levels and minimize stockouts.
• Ensures stock rotation (turns) are within agreed limits.
• Follow-up on supplier complaints.
• Conduct cost analysis to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and optimize procurement processes.
• Compiles monthly reports.
• Stay updated on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and emerging raw material technologies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, quality standards and environmental policies

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field - NON NEGOTIABLE
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in raw materials procurement within manufacturing industryNON NEGOTIABLE
• Familiar with import / export procedures
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in using procurement software and systems.
• Knowledge of cosmetic industry regulations and quality standards

Compensation:

Salary range:Under R450 000 per annum
