Placements24 seeks a Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist in George, Western Cape, to drive pre-formulation and formulation development within the R&D division. You will design studies, develop scalable formulations, and conduct stability assessments to advance product pipelines.

The role requires hands-on laboratory experience, strong scientific background, and collaboration with cross-functional teams including regulatory affairs to support regulatory submissions.

Qualifications

• Design and conduct pre-formulation studies to characterize drug substances and excipients.
• Develop robust formulations for dosage forms and scale-up activities.
• Execute formulation development studies including screening and optimization.
• Use analytical methods to characterize properties of formulations.
• Perform stability studies per ICH guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with analytical development, process chemistry, and regulatory affairs.

Responsibilities

• Design pre-formulation studies for drug substances and excipients.
• Develop and optimize robust formulations for tablets, capsules, injectables, and topicals.
• Run formulation development studies including screening and scale-up.
• Apply analytical techniques to assess physical and chemical properties.
• Carry out stability testing per ICH guidelines for regulatory readiness.
• Prepare technical reports and study protocols for regulatory submissions.
