To implement and support performance testing systems and strategies to ensure critical components of a system's application can perform as expected under varying user loads, evaluating resource usage, speed, availability, response time, scalability, and reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Work with application stakeholders to define non-functional requirements covering performance, scalability, availability, resiliency, and reliability including Service Level Objectives and Agreements.
  • Develop strategies to address the non-functional requirements throughout the Software or Product Development Life Cycle.
  • Collaborate with architecture and development teams to create performant, highly resilient, and reliable architecture and design.
  • Implement resiliency constructs and develop optimal code.
  • Work with QA to validate and certify that performance, scalability, availability, resilience, and reliability requirements are met.
  • Develop tools and utilities to automate manual operational tasks.
  • Responsible for incidents related to non-functionals, updating standard operating procedures to capture metrics/logs for root cause analysis, and ensuring permanent closure of incidents.
  • Analyze production utilization and incident patterns, identify improvement areas and implement automation to improve productivity and avoid recurring incidents.
  • Communicate and present findings to executives.
  • Learn and apply new technologies quickly.
  • Adapt rapidly to new projects, setting up performance strategy and executing planning to satisfy stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Degree (NQF7) and relevant certification, including ISEB / ISTQB Certification; ISTQB Advanced Analyst.
  • 5+ years’ experience focused on performance engineering and acting as performance lead on large scale corporate applications.
  • Preferred Banking Industry experience with a focus on Java and Cobol technologies.
  • Alternative experience working on projects for large corporates in retail, automotive, gaming, insurance, etc.
  • Exposure/experience in JMeter, Selenium, Grafana, AppDynamics.
  • Experience in Rancher, Jenkins, Bamboo, ConfigDB, Redis (beneficial).
