Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Performance Analyst for a leading professional sports team in Pretoria to provide data-driven performance insights to coaches and athletes, using advanced analytics and video analysis to guide training and game strategies.

You will collect and process performance data, generate reports and visualizations, and collaborate with coaching staff to translate findings into actionable improvements; travel to major events may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Performance Analyst in a professional sports setting.
• Proficiency with sports performance analysis software (e.g., Hudl, Sportscode, Dartfish) and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python).
• Strong understanding of sports biomechanics, tactics, and performance metrics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data visualization skills.
• Ability to communicate complex data insights clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Collect, organize, and analyze performance data from training sessions and competitions using specialized software.
• Utilize video analysis tools to breakdown game footage, identify tactical patterns, and provide actionable feedback to coaches and players.
• Generate comprehensive performance reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate key findings effectively.
• Collaborate closely with coaching staff to align performance analysis with team strategies and objectives.
• Identify areas for individual and team improvement based on data-driven insights.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in sports analytics, technology, and methodologies.
