Job description

audibene Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

At , we believe that everyone should hear well to live well.

Our mission is to bring high quality hearing care to anyone, anywhere, and to change our customers' lives through better hearing.

As part of the world's fastest-growing hearing care company, we're on an ambitious journey to scale, aiming to double our South African business in the next two years and become the go-to hearing care company in the country.

To support this growth, we're hiring a People Manager, a new foundational role and key part of our leadership team.

This is not a traditional HR role.

We're looking for someone who's ready to build, not maintain.

Someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, has a nose for great talent, and wants to shape the way people are hired, developed, and supported in a purpose-driven business.

You’ll work directly with the Country Head, Reinette, and alongside other leaders to ensure we have the team and culture in place to scale.

Your initial focus will be on recruiting top talent and setting the groundwork for performance and people systems that help our team thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead recruitment for our team of Customer Consultants and other key roles, ensuring we bring in A-players who raise the bar.
  • Support the build-out of our Partner Entrepreneurship Program, helping recruit audiologists to support the growth and expansion of our audiology partner providers.
  • Lay the foundation for strong people practices by refining and setting up systems for performance, growth, and talent management.
  • Shape and reinforce our team culture, ensuring we hire, reward, and develop people in line with our values and mission.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the Country Head and leadership team on people-related decisions and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with international peers to bring global best practices to the South African context.
  • Help build a business that people love to work for and that delivers meaningful impact.
What We're Looking For
Mindset & Energy
  • Results-oriented, with a strong drive to make things happen.
  • Curious and always looking to improve how we do things.
  • Fair, authentic, and human in how you show up and lead.
  • Entrepreneurial, comfortable creating from scratch.
  • Open and willing to get your hands dirty with any problem given to you.
  • Motivated by impact and aligned with our mission.
  • Brings a strong sense of ownership and initiative.
  • Positive, grounded, and energizing to work with.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in recruitment is a must, ideally in a fast-paced, demanding and goal-oriented environment.
  • Confident handling hands‑on hiring while also thinking about long‑term structure and scalability.
  • Willingness and ability to work across the full People life‑cycle.
  • A natural coach and strong communicator, passionate about helping others grow.
  • Able to move comfortably between big‑picture planning and detailed execution.
Working Structure

Based in Cape Town, with a focus on in‑office collaboration. Working mostly on standard weekdays with some flexibility. Scope focused on South Africa, with exposure to international peers.

What You’ll Gain

The opportunity to build and shape all things People and talent‑related in a purpose‑driven company. A strategic role as part of the leadership team that scales a start‑up. Deep impact on team, culture, and systems that enable business growth. A high‑trust, low‑ego environment where you can create real impact.

How to Apply

If this speaks to you — not just your skillset but your heart — we’d love to hear from you.

We offer a competitive compensation and a dynamic work environment where you can make a real difference.

Interview process: One phone call. A Zoom call with a peer People Manager with a recruitment case study. A final interview with our Country Head, Reinette.
