A leading global professional services firm is seeking a Senior Associate to manage the full payroll function in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate should have 6–10 years of payroll processing experience with strong knowledge of South African legislation and proficiency in Sage 300 People. You will ensure accurate payroll processing, compliance, and support payroll queries, contributing to employee satisfaction and the organization's financial health.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably with Sage 300 People and Workday systems.
  • Strong understanding of South African payroll legislation and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the full payroll function ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Perform payroll processing including monthly input of leave, medical aid changes, etc.
  • Prepare and submit monthly statutory returns (EMP201) and UI19 forms for terminated staff.
  • Respond to payroll-related queries and resolve staff queries.

Job Description & Summary

At PwC our people in finance focus on providing financial advice and strategic guidance to clients helping them optimise their financial performance and make informed business decisions. These individuals handle financial analysis budgeting forecasting and risk management.

Those in payroll at PwC will assist in the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees. Working in this area you will handle payroll administration including calculating wages deductions and taxes as well as confirming compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Your responsibilities include collaborating with HR teams to maintain employee records address payroll-related inquiries and assist in payroll accuracy. You will play a crucial role in making sure employees are paid correctly and on time contributing to the overall financial well-being of the organisation and supporting employee satisfaction.

Job Purpose

To manage and execute the full payroll function for SATIC using Sage 300 People and other systems ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation statutory submissions and third-party payments while maintaining compliance and resolving payroll-related queries.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing

Perform full payroll function including monthly input: leave taken, medical aid changes, new hires and terminations.

Import leave and overtime data into the Sage payroll system

Process Workday interfaces and other imports (e.g., mileage expenses subsistence claims).

Payroll reconciliations of the general ledger accounts (IS and BS) operating statement line items and the detailed payroll report from the system monthly. Ensuring all reconciling items are cleared out at month end.
Third-Party Payments

Prepare payment requisitions schedules and reconciliations for third-party payments (e.g., provident fund medical aid).

Load third-party and ad hoc payments on Google Shared Documents and communicate payment details to relevant providers.

Statutory Compliance

Prepare and submit monthly statutory returns (EMP201).

Prepare and submit UI19 forms for terminated staff upon request.

Reporting & Documentation

Run monthly Info S lips (electronic payslips).

Prepare monthly payroll reports and schedules for payroll sign-off.

Save and file monthly payroll reports and perform general clerical duties.

Perform leave and overtime reconciliations.

Query Resolution & Support

Respond to payroll-related queries and requests for information.

Resolve staff queries and service calls via ServiceNow (SNOW).

Process and submit provident fund claims.

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or Degree in Payroll Administration, Finance or related field.

6–10 years of experience in payroll processing preferably with Sage 300 People and Workday systems.

Strong understanding of South African payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
