Job Description

Our client, Owloon Fruit Farm, based in Paarl, is looking for an energetic HR, Payroll and Compliance Manager with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, the ability to work independently, and a focus on effective payroll, personnel and admin management.

The HR, Payroll and Compliance Manager is responsible for managing all payroll, HR and compliance administration functions within Owloon Agri. The role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with statutory payroll requirements, and effective HR support across the employee lifecycle. Compliance responsibilities are limited to assisting external consultants with audits, inspections, and certification requirements.

The incumbent will also be responsible for:

  • Payroll Management: Full payroll processing and statutory submissions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, COID); Manage SARS submissions (EMP201, EMP501, IRP5s) and UI19/COID returns; Maintain payroll records, reconciliations, reporting, and labour costing (FCS/software).
  • HR Administration: Maintain employee records and HR systems; Support recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and exits; Advise on HR policies, labour law, and employee benefits (including housing/ESTA); Assist with Employment Equity reporting.
  • Compliance: Support audits, inspections, and certifications (GlobalG.A.P., WIETA, SIZA, etc.); Provide payroll/HR documentation for compliance; Assist with Health & Safety recordkeeping.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
  • Relevant qualification in HR, Payroll, or Business Administration;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in payroll, compliance and HR administration (agriculture sector experience advantageous);
  • Proficiency in SARS eFiling, EasyFile, and payroll systems;
  • Proficiency in Farm Costing Solutions (FCS) and MS Office (Excel essential);
  • Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, COID, ESTA, Employment Equity Act);
  • Valid driver's license and own reliable transport.

Commencement date: 1 October or as soon as possible.
