Duties and Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Accurately process, from different sources (Timesheets / Biometrics), monthly, weekly, or bi-weekly payrolls for employees, ensuring that all data is entered correctly into the Pastel Payroll system.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws, statutory requirements, and company policies, including the timely submission of tax filings (e.g., PAYE, UIF, SDL).
- Payroll Queries: Respond promptly and professionally to employee payroll inquiries and resolve any issues regarding pay discrepancies, deductions, or benefits. Work with HR to resolve all queries.
- Report Generation: Generate and distribute detailed payroll reports such as payslips, tax reports, and year-end reports. Provide summaries for accounting and HR departments.
- Reconciliations: Reconcile payroll data and reports, ensuring all deductions, benefits, and taxes are correctly applied.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, ensuring all employee information is stored securely and confidentially.
- End-of-Year Processing: Assist with year-end processes such as generating IRP5s, tax certificates, and ensuring all payroll-related documentation is accurate and ready for submission.
- Payroll Software Maintenance: Keep the Pastel Payroll system up to date with employee data, tax rate changes, and new payroll-related information.
- Auditing: Assist with internal and external payroll audits as required.
Qualifications And Skills Requirements
- Bachelors degree or National Diploma in Accounting, HR, or a related field.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in payroll administration, with a strong emphasis on Pastel Payroll software.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in manufacturing or procurement.
- Strong understanding of tax legislation (e.g., PAYE, UIF, SDL) and other statutory obligations.
- Strong focus on accuracy and confidentiality with a methodical approach to work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management regarding payroll issues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent knowledge of payroll best practices.
- Experience working with HR to resolve all Payroll queries.
Package & Remuneration
- Will be agreed based on qualifications, applicable experience and previous earnings.
