Job summary

iOCO Limited in Johannesburg is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to join our Payments Engineering team working with banking-grade systems.

You will implement automation-first testing across UI, API and messaging layers, validate ISO 8583 transactions, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Playwright, Karate, SoapUI, Postman, and harnessing Zabbix monitoring to drive quality across releases.

Qualifications

• Experience with test automation across UI, API and messaging layers.
• Hands-on Playwright experience is required.
• Experience building API automation using Karate.
• Familiarity with ISO 8583 messaging standards and payments testing.
• CI/CD automation experience (Harness or similar).
• Monitoring/observability using platforms like Zabbix.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and suites across UI, API and messaging layers.
• Build UI automation using Playwright; use Selenium or UFT for legacy/compatibility needs.
• Develop API automation with Karate; enable readable tests, parallel execution, and mocks.
• Validate end-to-end card transaction lifecycles and ISO 8583 message handling.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and drive continuous testing.
• Support production monitoring and use telemetry to improve coverage.
• Contribute to test strategy, automation frameworks, and quality standards.
