Job summary

A new restaurant in Pretoria is seeking an experienced Pastry Chef to plan and produce a wide range of pastries and desserts. The ideal candidate will have formal training and 2–4 years of experience in pastry arts, with a passion for creativity and quality presentation. This position offers the opportunity to design dessert menus and work closely with the Head Chef in a dynamic kitchen environment.

New restaurant in Pretoria seeking a Pastry Chef

Key responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and produce a wide range of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods.
  • Design and execute dessert menus that align with the restaurant’s concept and seasonal availability.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in presentation, flavour, and portioning.
  • Monitor inventory and order ingredients and supplies as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organisation within the pastry section.
  • Develop and test new recipes to enhance the menu offering.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to coordinate production and service.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage cost control, portion sizes, and wastage in line with budget requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or Certificate in Pastry, Baking, or Culinary Arts (formal training preferred).
  • Minimum 2–4 years’ experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of classic and modern pastry techniques.
  • Creative flair with attention to detail and presentation.
