Packhouse Manager job vacancy in Stellenbosch.

Our client a medium-sized plum farm, near Stellenbosch, is looking for an experienced Packhouse manager to run their small/medium-sized packhouse which packs fruit (mainly plums) for the export market.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Fully bilingual with good communication skills;
• Have a proven track record in all aspects of packhouse management from fruit intake to containerization;
• Have thorough knowledge of the computerized Vitrax system relating to the entire packhouse cycle;
• Be familiar with a 4 lane pack line with optical sorter and have a basic mechanical knowledge;
• Manage all cold room facilities;
• Ensure that the packhouse complies with all fruit and export industry protocols and industry standards such as BRC, Globalgap, etc.;
• Supervise and manage a staff complement of 100 persons during the season;

Requirements:

• Have strong organizational and administrative skills;
• Be comfortable liaising with farm managers, suppliers, marketers and exporters.
• Be able to determine packaging requirements and order accordingly.
