Job summary

A leading design firm in Stellenbosch is seeking an experienced graphic designer to provide in-house design and packaging artwork services. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Graphic Design, at least 4 years of experience in a relevant role, and proficiency in Adobe tools. Strong organizational skills and knowledge of wine labelling legislation are essential. This role supports new product development while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of experience in a similar packaging or design role, ideally within the wine or FMCG.
  • Knowledge of South African wine label legislation and international labeling requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transport.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-house graphic design and packaging artwork services.

  • Prepare and submit artwork for certification approvals and printing.
  • Approve final proofs and first production runs to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Source and manage raw goods, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness and compliance.

Job description
Key Responsibilities

Provide in‑house graphic design and packaging artwork services.

Liaise with sales teams and clients to interpret and meet design requirements.

Prepare and submit artwork for certification approvals and printing.

Approve final proofs and first production runs to ensure quality and accuracy.

Source and manage raw goods (labels, cartons, closures, etc.), ensuring quality, cost‑effectiveness and compliance.

Coordinate and manage new product development projects through all stages.

Work closely with the NPD and Production teams to ensure product specifications are correct and on time.

Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and relevant wine labelling legislation.

Maintain accurate administrative and project documentation.

Support health, safety and housekeeping standards within the department.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric).

Minimum 3‑year Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design or related field.

At least 4 years of experience in a similar packaging or design role, ideally within the wine or FMCG.

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.

Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.

Knowledge of South African wine label legislation and international labelling requirements.

Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
