Qualifications

Job Opportunity

Ophthalmic Nurse (Full-Time, Permanent) – Location: Tygervalley & V&A Waterfront, Cape Town – Salary: Competitive & Negotiable – Immediate Start Available.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN) with valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
Experience
  • 3–5 years of nursing experience, including theatre experience (preferably in ophthalmology or related disciplines).
  • Scrubbing experience in ophthalmic surgeries is highly advantageous. Experience in other surgical fields is a plus.
Training
  • Operating Theatre Nursing certification (Medical & Surgical).
  • Anaesthetic training or relevant experience is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in ophthalmic surgeries, ensuring a sterile environment and proper instrument handling.
  • Provide exceptional pre-operative and post-operative care for ophthalmic patients.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team, including anaesthetists, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Perform scrubbing duties for ophthalmic surgeries, as well as other surgical disciplines where necessary.
  • Support and monitor patients under local, regional, or general anaesthesia.
  • Maintain accurate medical records while adhering to health and safety standards.
