Purpose of Role

Responsible for inspecting, repairing and replacing furnace and ladle linings, ensuring equipment availability inline with production requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspection: Inspect the lining of furnaces and ladles according to the required schedule, ensuring they are safe to use prior to production startup.
  • Repair: Make necessary repairs inline with best practice to prolong the service life of the lining of the unit.
  • Replacement: Breakout and install new linings as required. Perform sinter melt operation in accordance with best practice and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.
  • 5 years experience in relining induction furnaces, bottom pour and tea‑pot ladle systems.
  • Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid forklift license (Advantageous). Overhead crane license (Advantageous).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
