Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, effective programme delivery, regulatory compliance, and optimal resource management across the Operations Division. The role focuses on executing the national strategy, driving performance and growth, strengthening organisational culture, and ensuring operational excellence across all implementation departments.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design and implement business strategies, plans, and procedures aligned to the organisation’s national strategy.
  • Set comprehensive performance and growth goals aligned with company culture and vision.
  • Oversee daily operations of Care and Support, Health Programmes, CANSA Seal of Recognition Programme, and Fundraising departments.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and standardise workflows.
  • Monitor programme implementation, track KPIs, and evaluate outcomes for continuous improvement.
  • Support budget planning and resource allocation while ensuring adherence to approved budgets and donor requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and reporting requirements.
  • Foster collaboration across teams and external stakeholders.
  • Lead people management functions including recruitment, training, performance management, communication, and productivity oversight. Report to the CEO and Board of Directors and participate in Executive Committee activities.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Public Administration, Social Work, or relevant Business Administration qualification.
  • Minimum 15 years’ working experience, including at least 5 years at senior managerial level in non-profit operations or programme management.
  • Clear understanding of CANSA business functions.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in budgeting, compliance, and process improvement. Ability to analyse data and use insights for strategic decision-making.
