Responsibilities
- Overall management and direction of the company's transport logistics
- Management of the Fleet and Drivers
- Planning and proactive management of routes and revenue generation
- Meet performance to target company requirements
- Route planning, driver planning and ability to track and monitor
- Reporting and monitoring
- Ensure all operations are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way
- Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
- Help the organization's processes remain legally compliant
- Enforcing regulatory and safety standards
- Formulate strategic and operational objectives
- Examine operational and financial data and use them to improve profitability and find ways to optimize profitability
- Perform quality controls and monitor production KPIs
- Recruit, train and supervise staff and drivers
- Find ways to increase quality of customer service
- Long-term planning to support the company's goals
- Inspiring and motivating employees through positive encouragement and incentive initiatives
- Communicating with stakeholders about shifting company priorities and projects
- Identifying potential problems and points of friction and finding solutions to maximize efficiency and revenue
- Identifying opportunities to expand or shift course based on daily changes and conditions
- Align resource management (manpower and asset) strategy with business strategy across different business activities
- Anticipate emerging transport operations parameters to determine future resource requirements
- Build a culture of business process improvements that extend beyond project life cycle
- Communicate importance of achieving targets and outcomes with efficient use of resources
- Communicate importance of achieving transportation operation timeframe outcomes with efficient use of resources
- Communicate key messages resulting from transport operation's data analysis to key stakeholders
- Review effectiveness of risk management plans and resources
- Review incident or crisis management plans to mitigate gaps
Qualifications
- At least 10 years proven work experience as an Operations Manager in a transport logistics environment
- Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
- Familiarity with business and financial principles
- Excellent communication skills
- Leadership ability
- Outstanding organisational skills
- Preferred post matric qualification in Logistics, Business, Operations Management or related field
