Introduction
Our client, a leading name in the vehicle logistics and yard management industry, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager (CPU) to oversee and optimize daily operations within the KwaZulu-Natal region. This role requires a results-driven professional with strong leadership, planning, and process management skills to ensure the seamless execution of all operational functions — including Preservation, Convoy, PDI, and CPU-related activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, plan and manage all operational activities to ensure productivity, profitability, and compliance with contractual KPIs.
- Oversee manpower planning, ensuring budget adherence and optimal workforce utilization.
- Drive process improvements across CPU business units, ensuring efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Monitor daily performance metrics, operational reports, and client KPIs.
- Manage customer relationships through clear communication, timely reporting, and proactive issue resolution.
- Oversee preservation processes, convoy operations, and PDI to ensure compliance, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure full utilization and data accuracy within the V-Motion Yard Management System.
- Lead and develop supervisors and team leaders, ensuring operational excellence and skills development.
- Manage damage prevention and reduction strategies, ensuring compliance with customer SLAs.
- Oversee fleet maintenance, ensuring all vehicles are safe, serviced, and compliant.
- Drive adherence to SHEQ, ISO standards.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Education & Experience: Matric / Grade 12 (essential); Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred).
- Years' experience in vehicle logistics, yard management, or similar operational environments.
- Proven experience managing large teams (80+ staff) in a high-pressure, fast-paced logistics setting.
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office, Yard / Logistics Management Systems).
- Knowledge of technical fitment and vehicle processes advantageous.
