Job summary

PepsiCo South Africa seeks an experienced Production Manager to oversee shift-based daily and weekly demand within a manufacturing environment, driving cost, quality and efficiency. You will influence production performance, balance multiple variables, and uphold safety and quality standards across the line.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing with managerial experience, strong cross-functional collaboration, staff development, and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Production Management or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance standards and systems.
  • Computer literate (Access and MS Office).
  • Knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Sound Employee relations knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and control daily and weekly demand requirements within the manufacturing environment on a shift basis to drive cost, quality and efficiency.
  • The jobholder makes decisions that influence daily & weekly production performance and productivity and balances several variables to the required service level of sales.
  • Accountabilities: management of quality product through continual monitoring of line performance and optimization of quality vs. cost.
  • Utilize labour hours to maximize product yields and minimize breakage and waste.
  • Ensure adequate staffing to execute operational plans and that manning levels meet specifications.
  • Ensure development and training needs of FLEs and direct reports are fulfilled.
  • Maintain discipline through the disciplinary code and PepsiCo Code of Conduct.
  • Maximize quality cases produced per hour.
  • Accurately compile and analyze daily production line reports in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and categorize all downtime during a shift.
  • Prepare a weekly performance report and feedback performance-related issues to site leadership.
  • Analyze the weekly direct cost variance report and reconcile previous production week performance to standard.
  • Check and ensure housekeeping, food safety and occupational safety standards are adhered to.
  • Improve plant audit performance and work environment.
  • Direct supervisory staff (FLMs) in identifying and correcting any unsafe conditions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve production processes and/or operating methods.
  • Improve on all quality weak link targets in AOP.

What we're looking for:
