A logistics company is seeking an Operations Manager based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, manage a team of drivers and fleet controllers, and implement policies to enhance efficiency. Key requirements include Grade 12, experience in transport operations management, and strong leadership skills. The role requires excellent problem-solving abilities, knowledge of logistics software, and the capability to thrive in fast-paced environments. Candidates must be available after hours and during weekends for operational issues.
Oversee daily operations, including planning, scheduling, routing, and general fleet management.
Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
Monitor KPIs to ensure that targets are met.
Manage and mentor a team of drivers, fleet controllers, and support staff.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery, including the use of subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
Foster strong relationships with clients and suppliers to enhance service quality.
Grade 12
A formal qualification in Business Management, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field will be an advantage.
Proven experience in transport operations management, preferably in the abnormal transport industry.
Energetic, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Knowledge of cross-border abnormal transport operations.
Experience in abnormal load permits and load configuration will be an advantage.
Knowledge of logistics software and tracking systems is a plus.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Available after hours and over weekends to resolve any operational issues that may arise.
